The B-52's were the funkiest little sci-fi band out of Athens, GA, ever. I saw them play the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin in 1979, and Kate Pierson scared the hell out of me. Ricky Wilson reinvented white boy electric guitar playing. And in an alternate universe, I married C-C-Cindy. Fools thought they were a joke--it was probably the beehives--but underestimate their fierceness and legacy at your own peril.
